Local SEO for Indian SMBs: the 8-week plan

Google Business Profile, review velocity, location pages and citations — in the order that actually moves rankings.

Weeks 1–2: fix the foundation

Claim and fully complete the Google Business Profile — categories, service areas, hours, attributes, and at least 15 real photographs. An incomplete profile is the single biggest cap on local visibility.

Weeks 3–4: reviews and citations

  • Set up a one-tap review request in your billing or delivery flow.
  • Target a steady trickle of reviews rather than a burst — velocity matters more than volume.
  • Fix name, address and phone consistency across JustDial, IndiaMART, Sulekha and Apple Maps.

Weeks 5–8: content that ranks

Build one page per service per city you genuinely serve, each with unique copy, local proof and internal links. Add FAQ schema and LocalBusiness structured data. Publish two useful posts a month — not keyword filler.

Measure the right thing

Track calls, direction requests and form fills from the profile, not just impressions. A ranking that doesn't generate enquiries is a vanity metric.
